If You Can't Beat Them, Join Them!!

So where do I begin?  Haley still goes down to Riley's for check ups twice a year and she goes to a CP clinic where she sees a number of doctors in one day.  It's pretty nice because then we don't have to go down there multiple times.  One person she sees is a speech specialist and we made an appointment back in November for Haley to get evaluated for something called a Big Mac.  This is a device where we say an action into it and it records our voice so then Haley can push a button to have this action done.  It's like an answering machine.  So for example, if we say bubbles into it, when she pushes the button, we would blow bubbles for her.  It will be a cool way to get her to communicate with us.  The therapist sounded very impressed with what she could already do and quite optimistic she will be able to work a much more in depth device in the future.

Like I said, we made this appointment back in November for February 1st.  Back then we decided Matt would take the day off, Haley could ditch school, and we would do something cool beforehand like the Children's Museum because it wouldn't be so busy during the week during the day. The thought never occurred to us downtown would be completely packed with people because of all the Super Bowl festivities.  We got a little concerned when we realized this but we didn't want to reschedule the appointment because we felt it was really important to get this show on the road.  We don't know how long it will take to get it.  So we figured it would be best to put the museum on hold not knowing how busy it could possibly be and try to get in and out of downtown as quickly as possible.  That was until we saw the Super Bowl Village was about a mile away, if that, from Riley's so we figured why not?  Might as well go down and see what they had going on because who knows if and when the Super Bowl would ever be back here again.  Plus, the temperature outside was in the mid to high 50s, what more can you ask for??  We really lucked out with that.

The zip line, which was super crazy! (No, I did NOT go on it!)

The NFL Network

Jaws and Schlereth doing NFL Live

Watching ourselves on tv (yea, read my story at the bottom)

We are thinking this is where the Giants were staying

The following pictures are some fun I had with instagram, my new obsession!!!

Ethan out on the little football field they had

Waiting to eat some Qdoba!!

My Little Man was quite tuckered out

Yep, they are as goofy as they appear to be here

I was kind of bummed because we tried our hardest to find ourselves on tv.  It was pretty hard to find yourself in the crowd though on the big screen.  I took Ethan and we worked our way towards the front since there was a camera man standing right there and he kept panning around the the crowd.  NFL Live was about to end and the camera man asked everyone in front if they were ready, but whoever is in charge decided to go to a different camera.  Bummer!!!  At least we tried though.

Needless to say, we had a good time.....at least most of us!  Haley wasn't the biggest fan of it, too many people and too many noises.  We made it out of there without too many bumps and bruises.  Matt got scraped up from her wheelchair, I lost my voice, and Haley wound up running a fever Wednesday night so she didn't go to school Thursday.  Funny though, she was fine all day Thursday!  She's such a trickster!  I think she just wanted to hang out with Ethan all day :)

Oh Why Hello There!

Thanks for coming and checking us out!!  I've been inspired by our friends, the Aiello's, to start a blog so everyone near and far can see what our crazy family is up to.  I am hoping I stick with this one.  If I had a dollar for every time I started/tried to do this, I would have exactly $3.  I know, pretty awesome.  So wish me luck!

Once again, my little Ethan man is sick.  His poor little nose has been running worse than a faucet and his cough is terrible but he is acting relatively normal.  I'm proud of myself for not rushing him to the doctor but I am not sure how much longer I can hold out.  Today, he decided he's a really big boy and didn't need to take a nap, so by 7:30 the meltdown started.  But I liked that he was awake when Haley came home, and of course she loved it.  He was so cute with her because he started squealing when he saw her coming up the driveway and once she got in the house, he went up to her and was holding her hand  :)  When they get all cute on each other it just melts my heart!  Then he proceeded to help me take off her shoes and braces.  So in the spirit of their cuteness, I thought I would post my favorite picture of my 2 knuckleheads because it captures the silliness I deal with day in and day out, it's an oldie but definitely a goodie:

Yea, I know, I'm one lucky mommy!  So stayed tuned because as each day passes, our family discovers new and crazy things and we would love to share it with you!

P.S. Speaking of the Aiello's, the Dearing's want to give you guys a big congrats on Baby Girl Aiello!!!  We are so excited Haley will have someone to share the girly things with and Ethan will have wife.  Whenever we go registering for baby shower things, we might as well register for some wedding things.  It will just make it easier in 20 years :)
